  • About Marion H Martinez

    In 2013, Dr. Marion H. Martinez became the superintendent of schools for Binghamton, New York. The school district, located in southern New York State, is one of the largest in the region. An accomplished educational leader, Dr. Marion H. Martinez has held a number of notable administration positions, including associate commissioner for the Connecticut State Department of Education, superintendent of schools for East Hartford, Connecticut, and director of special education in East Windsor, also in Connecticut.
     

    Among her many achievements, Dr. Martinez has chaired the Performance Evaluation Advisory Council for the Connecticut State Department of Education and was responsible for directing the largest division - Teaching, Learning and Instructional Leadership. Her commitment to early education inspired her dissertation “Characteristics of Innovations: Elementary Principals’ and Teachers’ Perceptions of Early Intervention Reading Programs.” Dr. Martinez received her doctor of education in 2002 from Hartford University. She received her masters and bachelors at College of Saint Rose in Albany.
